A full consultation would take place to try to determine the root cause of the headaches before deciding on treatment.
Essential oils that are beneficial are those with analgesic properties (pain relieving) such as Bergamot, Lavender, Marjoram, Peppermint & Rosemary & It has been commonly known that a few drops of Lavender essential oil massaged lightly into the temples or added to pulse points in the wrist can be particularly effective.
Massage can also be beneficial for headaches - especially those caused by muscular tension in the back, neck or shoulders. It is also very relaxing and can lower blood pressure, therefore effective at treating stress related headaches.
Reflexology can also be used to help stress related headaches as it is a very relaxing treatment. Working on reflex points on the feet we would focus on any areas that may be causing the headaches (Muscular-skeletal system, endocrine system, sinuses and of course the Head / brain reflex which is found on the big toe.
For self help it can be beneficial to massage your Thumb - particularly the padded, fleshy part - which is the reflex for the Pituitary gland - A gland located in the brain, behind the nose and between the eyes.
