As with Anxiety, Massage can help lower stress levels which may be contributing to the cause of the depression, & additionally - helping to promote better sleeping patterns for those with symptoms of Insomnia.
My all time favourite, uplifting oil to help ease depression is Neroli - It ...is a very balancing, soothing oil & I also find it very uplifting. Other uplifting oils that can be beneficial include Geranium, Sweet Orange & Grapefruit - However some people may also suffer from irritability & restlessness as part of their symptoms - In this case we would choose oils of a more sedative nature such as Clary sage, Lavender & Melissa.
Reflexology for depression would focus on similar Reflexes to Anxiety including the Adrenals, Endocrine system, Solar plexus, Head, Lungs, & Stomach.
If the Depression has a significant link to the past them more focus may be placed on the right foot - However if it is more linked to the present then we would concentrate more on the Left Foot.
Additionally it is thought that we hold onto grief in our lungs & worry in our stomachs - which is another reason for focusing on these areas.
